Frequently Asked Questions

What is SDFC?
Soccer Domain Football Club (SDFC) was established for the specific purpose of developing a competitive youth soccer program whose goals are to develop players and teams that can compete at state, regional, and national levels. The realization of these goals will be accomplished within the proper framework of developing character traits such as self-esteem, confidence, leadership and sportsmanship.

Where is SDFC based?
SDFC is an Essex County based club which utilizes indoor and outdoor facilities in Montclair, Livingston and some of the contiguous towns.

How will SDFC benefit my child?
SDFC are dedicated to providing maximal development opportunities, with fun and effective training, opportunities for unlimited extra practice at no extra charge and playing opportunities at the appropriately competitive level, locally, regionally, nationally and international opportunities to come.

Who can tryout?
All players who are interested in playing travel soccer and developing as soccer players in a fun but challenging learning environment are welcome. Tryouts will run for U7-U19 Boys and Girls and are open to anyone regardless of town of residence.

How is my child assessed?
SDFC are looking for players who first of all have a love of the game. At the tryouts SDFC coaches will be looking at Technical, Tactical, Physical and Psychological factors in determining the correct pathway for the players immediate stage of development and how best to work towards reaching the players potential.

Is my child guaranteed a place on an SDFC team?
No one is guaranteed a place on an SDFC travel team. Based upon the number of players at the appropriate level or showing a certain level of potential, SDFC may offer more than 1 team per age group. SDFC will NOT create teams just for the sake of having teams. SDFC are only looking for certain attributes that are befitting of the SDFC program and will ensure individual growth.

What is the commitment?
All teams that are u14 and younger will compete in the fall, winter & spring.  Training will also be offered in the summer.  All teams that are u15 and older will compete in the late fall, winter & spring.  Training will also be offered in the fall.  Most players in the senior age groups will play high school soccer in the fall in addition to playing with SDFC.A players development will be reflected in their commitment to train. SDFC understands that conflicts do arise. Therefore, all players are given the opportunity to make up sessions with other teams in such cases.

What if my child wants to do more?
SDFC encourages its players to go above and beyond their regular schedule and works hard to provide as many opportunities to do this within SDFC and SDA programming. All SDFC players have the opportunity to train with other SDFC teams (subject to availability).

What have SDFC achieved?
SDFC have had a great deal of individual and team success since its inception in 2009 (U15 and above) and expansion in 2011 with teams as young us U7. These honors include, but aren’t limited to:

  • SDFC Lynx (Gu18) - 2 x State Cup Champions, 1 x Regional Premier Champions, Ranked Top 5 Nationally

How much does it cost to play for SDFC?

The fees per player vary from team to team. This depends upon age and level of competition. This is a flat membership fee for one soccer year.

What do my registration fees cover?
The flat fee encompasses the full soccer calendar (Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring) and covers team & player administration, training and facility costs.

Are scholarships available?
SDFC does not feel that a players ability to develop in our club should be inhibited by financial restrictions. Payment plans and requests for financial aid are all evaluated on a case by case basis.

What if my child does NOT make it into an SDFC team?
SDFC and SDA (Soccer Domain Academy) run programs to cater for each and every player’s development needs. Following the tryout, the SDFC Director of Coaching will contact families once evaluations are made regarding our immediate recommendation for your child.
