SDFC Tryout Schedule Announced.
The full schedule for the 2016-2017 tryouts can be found below. Inline with the implementation of the birth year age group classification, SDFC will be hosting Birth Year ID Sessions in advance of the tryouts. Click here for the schedule and further information.
2016-2017 Tryout Information
SDFC will offer the following age groups (number of teams at each age will depend on the tryouts) for 2015-2016:
- Boys: u7, u8, u9, u10, u11, u12, u13, u14, u15, u16, u17, u18, u19
- Girls: u7, u8, u9, u10, u11, u12, u13, u14, u15, u16, u17, u18, u19
Clarification of the age groups for 2016-2017
Birth-year registration calendars will now align with the start of the calendar year and run from January to December, rather than August to July as it had previously. The birth-year registration initiative will not cause the dissolution of age-group based teams that already play together, but will rather give players the opportunity to ‘play up’ with older age-groups.

How will SDFC benefit my child?
SDFC are dedicated to providing maximal development opportunities, with fun and effective training, opportunities for unlimited extra practice at no extra charge and playing opportunities at the appropriately competitive level, locally, regionally, nationally and international opportunities to come.
Who can tryout?
All players who are interested in playing travel soccer and developing as soccer players in a fun but challenging learning environment are welcome. Tryouts will run for U7-U14 Boys and Girls and are open to anyone regardless of town of residence.

What if we can't make the scheduled tryout date?
Alternate opportunities can be arranged at regular team practices. Email for additional opportunities.
Can my child "play up" in an older age group?
SDFC looks to provide an optimal development environment for all of our players.
This includes being in a team where the players is challenged, yet has opportunity to showcase their talent with suitable amount of success and ‘failure’ (to encourage motivation, confidence and development).
SDFC aims to create elite level teams at each age group so we will look to assign players accordingly in order to meet individual needs in the short to long term. In most circumstances this will mean players playing in age appropriate teams (by date of birth). If the age appropriate team does not meet the individuals needs then alternative arrangements will be made.
Elite level teams in the younger age groups will be provided with competition against older age groups and other elite level teams.
SDFC also provide appropriate opportunities for players to guest for older teams.

Tryout Information
SDFC conducts open tryouts each year for all our teams. Before attending the tryout sessions, players must register by logging into the account through the following link - Click here
- The dates, times and locations for all open tryouts is subject to change
- The Director of Coaching and Head Coach for the specific age group team(s) will determine how the tryouts are conducted and the process for selecting the final roster.
- Player selections are made without regard to race, religion, creed, color, national or ethnic origin.
